Writing- the perfect work-at-home job

Are you a stay-at-home parent who is looking for a way to bring some extra income into the family? Something you can work at and still care for your children? Do you enjoy writing? If you answered yes to any of these questions then online writing may be the right fit for you.

Okay, now that you’ve decided to try writing from home and you have the support of your spouse what comes next? Having a supportive spouse is very important. My husband was the one who suggested I try writing as a profession. He knew how much I enjoyed it. Through my 20s and into my 30s I had put my passion on a shelf in order to survive.

It was after the birth of our second child, and I wasn’t going back to work that I decided to pursue writing. It isn’t an easy task balancing writing with the needs of my family and the household responsibilities. When do you write when you have the needs of the household and your children to consider?

I struggle with that everyday; however, I have set a goal for myself. I have decided that I must write a minimum of 100 words a day. Whether it be on the novel I am currently writing or an article about breast reduction surgery, I make sure I write 100 words a day. This way I feel as though I’ve accomplished something.

Just think about it the average article length is 1000 words then after writing 100 words a day 100 day you will have written 10,000 words that is 10 articles. How do you come up with topics to write about?

Most of my short story ideas come from dreams I’ve had. My husband is an excellent for helping me brainstorm ideas. For one story, we fleshed it out during the two-hour drive from a camping trip in the mountains to our home. Other times we sit at our kitchen table and flesh out ideas.

As a stay-at-home mother of two boys, a writing career is just the thing for me. I love the freedom of being able to write what I want when I want.
