Klaus The Klutz.

I’ve just come across an absolutely hilarious video on YouTube! It is the story of Klaus, a newly qualified German forklift driver and his first day at work. We follow Klaus as he discovers that doing a quick driving course and putting what you have learnt in to everyday practice are two very different things…

If you have ever had to sit through one of those boring Health and Safety videos at work then you are going to love this. It starts off just like one of those safety films by showing a group of workers who have just passed their fork truck tests. However, as it goes on (complete with a few ‘near misses’) it soon becomes a very different story altogether…

If you can imagine that Sam Peckinpah was the Health and Safety executive responsible for making ‘Safety in The Workplace’ videos, then you will have some idea of how it all turns out. What began as a serious and rather mundane foray into the world of ‘safety in practice’ soon becomes a bloodbath that could even give Quentin Tarantino a few sleepless nights.

Forklift Driver Klaus – The First Day on The Job’ is one of the best videos that I have seen for ages. It is a really well made short film with a brilliant script. The whole thing is made far more amusing because of some very good actors and a story that builds up at just the right speed.

Considering that the Germans are not supposed to have a sense of humour, they really have excelled themselves with this!
