We have all heard about how the movie industry has been suffering since the advent of illegal downloads on the internet. It is quite a hot subject on many a forum and a lot of people think that Hollywood is just being overly greedy. Perhaps we will never get to know just how much downloads are damaging the pockets of directors…
But did you know that there are actually legal download sites as well? There are hundreds of old films which can be watched for free without you breaking any laws. Many old movies are no longer under copyright protection and are classed as being ‘public domain’. There are several good websites that have numerous titles up for grabs. Most of the films may not be on par with the latest ‘Rocky’ or ‘Die Hard’, but there are actually quite a few hidden gems amongst the not-so-good ones.

You shouldn’t have any problems finding such classics as; ‘Night of the Living Dead’, ‘The Last Man on Earth’ (the original version of ‘I am Legend’), ‘Things to Come’ and ‘The Satanic Rites of Dracula’ (with the awesome Christopher Lee!). If you like creepy old black and white movies then have a look at ‘Carnival of Souls’, it’s a corker.
You will need to get hold of a program for downloading torrent files but there are plenty of these around that are easy to use and completely free. And if you don’t want to have to wait for your movies to download then you can simply sit and watch them on the site for free instead!
